Gilles Phan, 31 ans, a effectué sa thèse au LCRB (Paris) sous la direction de A. Ducruix et I. Broutin, sur l'architecture et la dynamique d'un système de sécrétion bactérien, le système d'efflux membranaire impliqué dans la résistance aux antibiotiques.
En post-doctorat dans l'équipe de G. Waksman à l'ISMB (Londres), il s'intéresse à la biogénèse du pilus bactérien responsable de l'interaction hôte-pathogène.
