Laure-Emmanuelle ZARAGOSI

Laure-Emmanuelle ZARAGOSI is a Senior Research Scientist (Chargée de recherche hors classe) at Inserm, specializing in cellular and molecular biology at the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology (IPMC) in Valbonne Sophia-Antipolis, France.

Her scientific career has been marked by significant advances in the understanding of microRNAs, particularly their roles in various differentiation processes and their functional complementarity with host genes.

Her current research focuses on the cellular and molecular mechanisms that govern the regeneration of the human airway epithelium. She is an active member of the international Human Lung Cell Atlas consortium, which aims to create a comprehensive molecular map of all cell types in the human lung. In this context, she contributed to the development of the first cellular atlas of the human airways using biopsies from healthy donors and single-cell RNA sequencing technologies.

Her recent work investigates the molecular mechanisms underlying secretory cell hyperplasia, a pathological feature observed in chronic respiratory diseases such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and cystic fibrosis.
