UPR 9002 CNRS Specific recognition of the HIV-1 genomic RNA by the Gag precursor. Nat Commun. 2014 Jul 2;5:4304. During assembly of HIV-1 particles in infected cells, the viral Pr55Gag protein (or Gag precursor) must select the viral genomic RNA (gRNA) from a variety of cellular and viral spliced RNAs. However, there is no consensus on how Pr55Gag achieves... Lire l'abstract

I am a 32 year-old post-doctoral researcher, working in the Marquet-Paillart laboratory at the “Architecture et Réactivité de L'ARN" research unit, at IBMC in Strasbourg. I received my undergraduate degree at the University of Cambridge, UK and my PhD from Monash University, Melbourne, Australia. Throughout my scientific career I have focused on molecular biology and virology, specifically related to the HIV-1 virus. I have previously studied the mechanisms leading to the generation of genetic diversity in the natural target cells of HIV-1 infection, T-cells and macrophages. I am now interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms that lead to the selective packaging of the HIV-1 genomic RNA from a complex, and much larger pool of cellular and spliced RNA.
